I think we are confusing anti-semitism with anti-Zionism. I don't deny there is a lot of anti-semitism in the Muslim Arab world, regrettably many Muslims especially Arabs are conditioned to believe that Jews in general are traitors and descendants of pigs. They injured and grieved our prophet and that Muslims will exterminate them before the end of time. This attitude and line of thinking is propagated mostly by the religious establishment and reinforced by current events and the media. These attitudes need to be challenged and on this point I agree that Jews have as much a right as any Palestinian to exist on that land.
But why should the Palestinians be made to pay for the crimes of the Europeans in the Holocaust? After all the establishment of the state of Israel was in response to the Holocaust that happened in Christian Europe in which Palestinians / Arabs / Muslims played no role. But who is paying the price of the Holocaust?
- millions of Palestinians who have been exiled and not allowed to return to their homeland, do they not have as much right as jews to that land?
- millions of Palestinians who do not have a representative in government, why are not the Palestinians given the right to participate in free and democratic elections as members of single nation for both jews and non-jews.
- Whole communities that have been occupied and segregated from one another. Why is there jewish only settlements on land that is supposed to be for all?
- hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who forcibly lost their homes, farmland and once national landmarks to these Jewish settlements.
So there you have it, the anti-zionist movement is against a state that is supported through western guilt and paid for by Palestinian blood, what we want to see is a state that looks after all of its citizens equally.
